Bunkersite.com update: Ørland in Norway
We’ve started working on the area around Ørland and Trondheim half way up Norway. Very interesting strong points and bunkers including the famous MKB Ørlandet or Austrått Fort with it’s triple 28cm Gneisenau turret. We’ll add it to the website in the coming weeks. Ørland on Bunkersite.com.

Bunker near Arcachon unearthed
Two years ago we mentioned the renovation of an anti-tank bunker in the south west of France. In May of 2012 the plans were finally put into action. The bunker’s armoured plate was behind bricks but still there including the protecting lifting plate in front. The ball mount for the 4.7cm Festungspak 36 (t) is […]

Part of a German casemate found in Scheveningen
During construction works on the sea wall in Scheveningen, a part of an anti-tank gun casemate type 625 has been found. It’s been partially demolished just after the war. It still shows some of its impressive camouflage painting. A part will be further demolished while the rest will be covered under the new dike. More […]

Stop the looting of Bt Karola
Looting bunkers of the Atlantikwall by so-called collectors has been the case since the eighties of the last century. However since less and less complete bunkers are present the rate of looting speeds up. This is especially the case with the heavy Marine Batterie Karola on Île de Ré. Alain Durrieu, writer of several books about the Atlantikwall, now […]

Bunker in Thyborøn Denmark restored
A bunker for personnel in the Danish coastal town of Thyborøn has been restored to its original outside state. It’s an interesting one because it was camouflaged as warehouse, including fake big wooden doors and windows. There is an exibition inside about “Skildpaddespionen” (The Turtlespy) a Danish employee (engineer) at the town hall who made double […]

Goldmine in France
Again a unique find in France. Last week we wrote about the four M19 cupolas found on Cazaux military airport. Now we can add two more ones to the list. But this time the turrets are of a type that I thought didn’t exist anymore: the Kleinstglocke 24P8, an early design 250mm thick observation turret. […]
