Lifting a plate, part two

Some time ago I’ve posted the video by Steve Powell of the Festungspak plate at Wn Schonbucht Mitte on Guernsey. This time I made my own video in Batterie Ørlandet, better known as Austrått Fort in Norway. A group of Czech volunteers restored the gun and accessories to mint condition.

Lifting a plate

The guys of Festung Guernsey are doing a great job again. This time they’ve managed to get the protective armoured plate in front of Wn Schonbucht Mitte casemate’s embrasure in working order. Watch this nice vid by Steve Powell. More info on the excavation and cleaing up of the bunker here.

Firing a Festungspak

It’s a legendary weapon: the 4.7cm Festungspak 36 (t), the former Czech 4cm kanón vz.36. I only know the stories of how it sounded. A sharp BONG! I found this youtube movie of a gun firing. I think it’s MO S-19 “Alej” near Hlučín in the Czech republic.

A Festungspak on Crete

Agia Galini, originally uploaded by Dr Derek Bem. As far as Crete the Germans built bunkers. Gun casemates are known as well as Tobruks. This is a 4.7cm Festungspak 36 (t), with an attached tunnel in the rocks in Agia Galini on the southern coast of Crete. Interesting to see such a weapon even in […]
